The Whooo's Reading Team

Whooo's Reading is an online platform that empowers educators with actionable data to manage students' independent reading.

We help educators and schools motivate students to develop a love of reading and writing and propel them to new heights of academic achievement. Our program's gamification and social media features make the reading experience relevant and fun for today’s digital native students.

Teacher Advisory Board

Whooo's Reading would not be what it is today without the brilliant ideas and guidance of our teacher advisory board. These awesome teachers gave their time to share their experiences with us, and they continue to give us feedback as Whooo's Reading continues to develop.

Alysa Beer

General Studies and Medial Specialist
Philadelphia, PA

Impact: When responses are evaluated, wisdom coins are always given along with the score (1-4) to ensure that positive motivation has a constant presence on Whooo's Reading.

Sara Jutcovitch

General Studies Teacher, reading focus
New York, NY

Impact: Prompts are grouped into universally accepted reading skill-sets based on grade level, allowing teachers to see aggregate progress in skill-set areas.

Betsy Newmeyer

5th Grade English Teacher
Beaumont, CA

Impact: Teachers can make private comments to their students, so that certain critiques can remain only between the student and his/her teacher.

Dominique Rodriguez

1st Grade Teacher
San Francisco, CA

Impact: Data reports provide teachers with information to easily see which students are on track, and parents receive weekly update reports, empowering teachers, parents, and students with actionable data.

William Su

7th Grade ELA Teacher
Charlotte, NC

Impact: The 1-4 scoring system for students' responses is tied to different reading skill-sets, which allows teachers to efficiently give highly personalized feedback.

Lisa Wilken

Assistant Principal & Former Teacher
San Diego, CA

Impact: Students can comment on each other's book reviews and responses, which encourages them to always write for an audience.
